MEDIA ADVISORY: PRESS CONFERENCE
In fight for more affordable education, look to core classes
U.S. PIRG and the CALPIRG chapter at UCLA are releasing an investigative report entitled Open 101: an Action Plan for Affordable Textbooks. Against the high cost of college textbooks in core and introductory courses on college campuses, it compares traditional textbook costs, digital books bundled with access codes, and open textbooks accessed for free online. The analysis includes new data about online access codes and other materials that have contributed to textbook prices rising more than three times the rate of inflation in the past decade.
