How To Make The Most Of Your Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day is a day to celebrate love, whether it’s platonic or romantic. Although romantic relationships are highlighted during this holiday, I think it’s time for us to realize teachers were right in having the whole classroom celebrate together. It made Valentine’s Day exciting as everyone in the class got to feel special. However, celebrations can get pretty expensive, especially on a college student budget. Here are some ideas to spread the love this holiday without breaking the bank based on some of the most common love languages.
-
Write a letter
A love letter can express your gratitude and appreciation towards your family and/or friends. It can be significant for the receiver, and you can add on their favorite treat! It may seem too simple, but sometimes we forget to vocalize our admiration. This is the perfect opportunity to convey your love for those whose love language is words of affirmation.
2. Roses or DIY bouquets
Grab a bouquet of roses and hand it out to all your friends. This can be a cute decoration in their room and a great way to remind someone that you think of them! Alternatively, you can make your bouquet for your friends. Stores, such as Trader Joe’s, sell flowers for a low price, which makes it easier to make an adorable bouquet with flowers in season. If you don’t have the time to plan a bouquet, flower street vendors have your back! They provide such beautiful, colorful flowers, and it is always great to support your community! This can be an ideal choice for those with a gift-giving love language.
3. Put on a baking get-together
Invite people over and bake your favorite sweet treats. It is such a fun and easy way to catch up with people while also decorating cookies and other baked goods. This could be a casual hangout, but with cute decorations and a Valentine’s theme, your hangout would be elevated! You can pair it with some drinks and a movie, and voilà, a perfect night in. It is a great idea for people whose love language is quality time!
4. Host a brunch/dinner party
This is another great option for people whose love language is quality time! Invite your loved ones, make some decorations, create a collaborative playlist and mix up some tasty cocktails. You can brighten up your space with DIY decorations such as a floating flower backdrop, balloons and candles to create a cute, welcoming space.
There are many ways to show your love this February, so get creative! Be loud and expressive with your love because that’s what this holiday is all about. These ideas do not have to be restricted to Valentine’s Day, but they can be an excellent starting point for the future. Everyone expresses and receives love differently, so be sure to thoughtfully plan out your next celebration of love.
