Welcome!

La Gente Newsmagazine is a student-run and student-produced publication.  First established in 1971, as a newspaper to cover the Chicano movement, La Gente is now the longest continuous running publication of its kind. In the past 40 years, La Gente has not only covered issues affecting the Latino community but, most importantly, has given a voice to the students.

There are many opportunities available at La Gente, including writing, blogging, photography, design, illustration, social media, and multimedia.We also accept outside contributions, so don’t be shy! Any story ideas, articles, poetry, short stories, photography, illustrations, and multimedia projects are welcomed.

So if you are a UCLA student, click Join La Gente and please submit an application! No prior experience is necessary. We just want to tell your stories!

The application is due Monday of Week 2.
