Puerto Vallarta, August 2024 – Part I

This past August I had the opportunity to return to Jalisco, Mexico, after 20 months away. In those 20 months, I went through the last two quarters of freshman year, all of sophomore year with all its plot twists and theatrics, and a summer of preparing to become editor-in-chief. In their song “Florida!!!” Taylor Swift and Florence Welch sing of how they plan to abandon all their problems for an escape to Florida. Jalisco is to me as Florida is to Swift and Welch. It is the place where nothing here in California can touch me. Nothing from Perris. Nothing from UCLA. Here are some of the 1,125 pictures I took while in Puerto Vallarta (excluding the pictures on my phone).

Although we were visiting Puerto Vallarta, we actually stayed in Nuevo Vallarta in Nayarit. On our first night there, the moon shone so beautifully. From our balcony, you could see the full moon over city, rivers, and jungle. The critters were so loud, and the air was so thick. I tried falling asleep to the sounds of the jungle, but the humidity made me feel like I was choking. I love the motherland nonetheless.

She’s the albatross. She is here to destroy you.

Pictured above is the Parroquia de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe.

Stay tuned for Part II of my escape to Puerto Vallarta and photos from Tequila, Chapala and Guadalajara.
